    Contemporary folk-pop singer-songwriter ALLY SMITH has been compared with musicians such as Kate Wolf, Sandy Denny, & Judy Collins. She has been writing and performing her unique music style for almost 20 years. Ally had classical training on the viola as a child but is otherwise self-taught on guitar, violin and cello, as well as voice.

    Ally had her Band beginnings in 1988 with a contemporary Christian group White Rainbow" and moved on to a modern folk-pop group "Myriad" in 1990,  Myriad has a variety of song styles and vocalists, and is known for rich harmonies. In 1996, after releasing her first solo CD, she formed the "Ally Smith Band", which performed throughout Florida for over a year. In fall of 1997 she joined with two other women musicians, and the band "Rosewood Station" was born.

    The name "Rosewood Station" comes from an abandoned railway station in Kentucky. Rosewood consists of three lead & harmony vocalists Ally Smith, Cyndi Meinck, and Lori Krout. Instrumentation includes three guitars, dulcimer, violin & cello, and conga drum. Their styles vary from contemporary-pop & country-bluegrass, to traditional & folk with some Celtic influence. Along with her solo performances, Ally presently divides her time  between  Rosewood Station and The Ally Smith Band.

    Ally is an accomplished studio musician who has lent her vocal and instrumental talents to near a dozen record artists. She currently belongs to The Women’s' Musicians Alliance and is also a member of Friends of Florida Folk. Ally won Second Place in the 1992 "Music Without A Net" songwriter competition, with her song "Mother". She has performed on over a dozen live radio shows.

    Ally established her own publishing company with BMI in 1992, "ALLY’S WINDOW PUBLISHING COMP /BMI". 

    Ally released her 1st solo CD Think I’ll Grab A Train" in spring 1996 and released a cassette "Live & Otherwise" with The Ally Smith Band, cut from a live WMNF 88.5 FM radio show in summer ’96. She has recently been in the studio working on yet another recording with Rosewood Station, "OPENHEARTED" which was released in early 1999. As well as the above mentioned, Myriad has released three cassettes and a CD "New Strings (an April ’98 new release). Ally plans to start another solo project in summer 1999 with scheduled release in the spring of 2000 as well as a retrospective of Ally's past ten years.

    Performing travels have included: Nashville tour September 1996, Florida Folk Festival / White Springs (1997 & 1998). The Will McLean Festival (1998), South Florida Folk Festival(1997 & 1998). First Night, St. Petersburg, FL (1996), The Studio Art Center (Crystal River), The Iron Horse (Tarpon Springs), The Cleveland Street Coffee House (Clearwater), Club More (Clearwater), and One Door North (Safety Harbor).
