Cyndi Meinck - Ally Smith - Lori Krout
Three women from different walks of life joined together in fall 1997 and formed a band. Cyndi Meinck, Lori Krout, & Ally Smith bring to Rosewood Station their years of experience in songwriting and performing as well as a background in classical strings and dulcimer. Their name comes from an abandoned Kentucky railway station. Rosewood Station is getting raves from audiences throughout Florida with many invitations to perform. They are currently in the studio recording their first project scheduled for release in late summer 1998.
Cyndi Meinck has been playing guitar and singing for nearly 25 years. There is a distinct warmth to her unique cowboy-folk style, a mixture of musical influences she has melded into one ribbon of sound. Once a member of old-time music group "Yum-Yum", and now a member of the newly formed Rosewood Station", her recent resurgence into the local folk scene has been a breath of fresh air both to those who enjoy her music and to herself.
Ally Smith is a contemporary folk-pop singer/songwriter who has been compared with musicians like Kate Wolf, Sandy Denny, and Judy Collins. She s been writing & performing her unique music style for nearly 20 years. Ally had classical training on the viola as a child, but is otherwise self-taught on guitar, violin and cello, as well as voice. She is an accomplished studio musician and has recorded with almost a dozen Florida artists. Over the past decade, she has performed on over a dozen live radio shows. Ally released her first solo CD in April 1996 titled "Think Ill Grab A Train", as well as a cassette titled "Live & Otherwise". She is planning a third release for winter 1999. Ally had her band beginnings in 88 with White Rainbow (contemporary Christian group), to Myriad (contemporary folk) in 90, to The Ally Smith Band (original pop) in 96, to Rosewood Station fall 97. She currently divides her time between the latest version of "The Ally Smith Band", along with "Rosewood Station" and Desert Rain. Ally established her own publishing company "Ally's Window Publishing Co./BMI" in 1992.
Lori Krout has been singing harmonies since she was a small child. With her early roots in choral music, she began participating in the adult choir of her familys church at the tender age of ten years. She has been writing songs sporadically for the past two decades, but began to focus on songwriting again in 1994, creating both moving ballads and upbeat songs with a sense of humor. Lori was chosen as one of twenty finalists in the National Songwriting Competition at the 1997 South Florida Folk Festival She was a solo artist for several years in the Ft. Lauderdale area, performing at many venues there. Lori lends her rich vocals, guitar picking, mountain dulcimer playing, and percussion to "Rosewood Station".
